But as much as the passing of the Police is lamentable, Sting has found a new, more sophisticated sound that is well realized on his new double LP/single CD and cassette ' Nothing Like the Sun'. Unlike 's 'The Dream of the Blue Turtles' - in which the moonlighting cop enlisted the aid of four young jazzmen - the new album does not sound like a sociology project.

Listening to this album these days in refreshed mix, knowing Sting's achievements so far is very interesting. It has several classic songs such as "Englishman in New York", "They Dance Alone", "We'll Be Together" and "Fragile" which pointed his ship towards later work. And of course, "Little Wing" is a great homage to Jimmy/5().

'We'll Be Together' appears on Sting's album, 'Nothing Like The Sun'. It had the honour of being Sting's first CD single in the UK where it reached the #41 spot - and for added collectibility it was also a 3" CD instead of the standard 5" - but the single fared much better in the US where it reached the #7 spot, spending 12 weeks on the chart there.

If Dream of the Blue Turtles was an unabashedly pretentious affair, it looks positively lighthearted in comparison to Sting 's sophomore effort, Nothing Like the Sun, one of the most doggedly serious pop albums ever recorded. This is an album where the only up-tempo track, the only trifle -- the cheerfully stiff white-funk "We'll Be Together" -- was added at the insistence of the label because they believed 9/

Jan 01,  · As for sound I have a very slight preference for the Ludwig mastered A&M CD. The Mo-Fi is a bit lacking in low end and impact. It's somewhat safe and conservative sounding compared to the A&M CD. I also don't like the midrange quality added to We'll Be Together. It's better balanced on the Ludwig CD. Still, either one sounds very nice.
